2D Interior Blinds Configurator
Design and development of a bespoke 2D interior blinds configurator for Shutters Factory Ltd — built with vanilla JavaScript and the Canvas API, integrated into the in-house CRM and ordering portal to support two new product launches.
Context
As Shutters Factory expanded its product range beyond plantation shutters into interior blinds, the in-house CRM and ordering portal needed to grow with it. Two new blind product types were being brought to market, and both required the same visual validation capability that had proven its value in the 2D Plantation Shutters Configurator — a real-time drawing that reflects the exact specification of the product being ordered.
This project was handled with full ownership: from supporting the product launches themselves through to designing, building and integrating the configurator module into the existing CRM workflow.
What it does

The configurator generates an accurate 2D technical drawing of the configured blind in real time, directly within the CRM ordering interface. As product parameters are adjusted, the drawing updates instantly — giving both the operator and the client an immediate visual reference for the order being placed.
Parameters reflected in the visualisation include:
- Dimensions. Width and height rendered to scale, giving a true proportional representation of the product.
- Product type. Each of the two new blind types has its own geometry and visual behaviour — the configurator handles both within a single, consistent interface.
- Configuration options. Relevant product-specific parameters — headrail style, control position, fabric or slat selection — are reflected in the drawing as they are set.
- Manufacturing constraints. The configurator validates against production limits in real time, flagging configurations that fall outside manufacturable tolerances before they enter the order pipeline.
Dual purpose — client and manufacturer

As with the shutters configurator that preceded it, the 2D blind drawing serves two distinct audiences simultaneously.
For B2C and B2B clients, it provides a clear, unambiguous visual of what they are ordering — reducing uncertainty at the point of sale and minimising the risk of post-installation disputes over specification.
For the manufacturing facility, it acts as a production reference: a precise technical drawing that travels with the order and gives the shop floor team an accurate specification to work from.
Technical approach
Built with vanilla JavaScript and the HTML5 Canvas API — the same proven approach used in the 2D Plantation Shutters Configurator. No external libraries, no framework overhead. The module integrates cleanly into the Laravel-based CRM codebase and remains lightweight and fast in daily production use.
