From WordPress to Next.js — Casa Cifu

A long-term engagement with Cabana Casa Cifu — beginning with a WordPress website in 2017 and evolving into a full rebuild on Next.js and Cloudflare in 2025.

A relationship that started in 2017

Casa Cifu is a cabin rental property that has been part of our client portfolio since 2017. The engagement began simply: a WordPress website on shared cPanel hosting, built to give the property an online presence and a way to receive booking enquiries. It did the job well for several years — straightforward, low-cost and easy for the owner to manage.

Over time, as the property grew in popularity and visitor expectations around web performance shifted, it became clear that the original stack had reached its ceiling.

The 2025 rebuild

In 2025 we rebuilt the site from the ground up on a modern stack — Next.js on the front end, deployed on Cloudflare’s edge network. The goals were straightforward: significantly faster load times, better Core Web Vitals scores, improved SEO performance and a codebase that would remain maintainable and scalable for years to come.

  • Edge-first deployment. Cloudflare serves the site from locations closest to each visitor, eliminating the latency that came with the original shared hosting environment.
  • Next.js for performance and flexibility. Static generation where possible, with the option to add dynamic functionality without a full infrastructure overhaul.
  • Continuity of content. All existing content, imagery and SEO equity was carried over into the new site — no rankings lost, no broken links.
  • Clean handover. The owner can manage content updates without touching code, preserving the ease of use that made WordPress the right choice in 2017.

Eight years and counting

Direct booking experience and mobile-optimized availability checker

What started as a single WordPress build has become one of our longest-running client relationships. The 2025 rebuild is not the end of that story — it is the platform for the next chapter. It is also a good illustration of how we think about technology choices: use what is appropriate for the moment, and be ready to evolve when the moment changes.
